Today, Ariga Sensei explained hot to hit Do, and we practiced Do many times. I was never very good in hitting Do. I find that hitting Do is too risky for me. Also, I do not like to go against a Kenshi who is good at striking the Do. I have no idea how to attack them. During the explanation, Ariga Sensei gave us a tip on how to hit the Do precisely. It worked well. However, this is confidential, and it is a privilege for the person who came to practice on that day. It was small class, only eight of us. At practice, we had 2 students without Bogu. One of them bought her Bogu, because Ariga Sensei told her that she coul start wearing the Tare and the Do. As you know, Kendo Bogu is not cheap, so that was a memorable moment for all of us. When I bought mine 10 years ago, my Sensei decided the Do’s color for me, and I still love this Do.
More you know about Kendo and Bogu, you always want to have better one. However, how can I get the ideal one?
Ariga Sensei invented a new Bogu bag recently. And I use that now.
We usually carry the Bogu on our shoulders. The Bogu, with Kendogi and Hakam become very heavy, and we end up having a stiff shoulder, just by carrying it. However, because this one is like a bag pack for hiking, we can carry it using both shoulders, and there is a belt for the waist, which helps distribute the weight throughout the body.
