Being part of the Canadian Team for 20 years, it is difficult to just stay apart of it just because I am coaching another team. At the WKC, when I see a Canadian team player on the court, I would automaically be cheering for him/her.

14WKC Team Canada
During this WKC, I was in a very unique position because of the following situation:
- I started Kendo in Brazil, back in the 70s. So I know most of the Senseis, players, volunteers, etc… They are the ones that built my foundation of Kendo.
- Then I moved to Canada in 1984, and continued Kendo there. Joined the Canadian team in 1988 (Seoul) and since them, I have participated at WKCs 7 times as a member of the Canadian Team.
- Then I live in the USA now, and I often practice with the USA team guys, so this is like my home now.
So for me, the Round Robin match Block 16 (Court D) was a big challenge. Canada was playing USA, and I was cheering for Canada. I suppose that is natural, by the fact that, many of my team mates are still in the team, and I still have not forgotten the feeling I had, when Canada lost to the USA in 2003 Glasgow and 2006 Taiwan.
