Yesterday, it was hot and humid in Irvine. Practice is not so hard, but everybody sweat a lots. But we had a good practice.
We usually practice for 2hours and have 3 parts like every Dojo does; 1 Basic Practice ,2 Waza Practice, 3 Ji-geiko. Ariga Sensei teaches us the tip for each part. His idea is very clear. At 1st part, he focus on ‘GOOD’ hit. It doesn’t matter whether we hit big or small. We focus on the Kiai, Sae, and Postures. As 2nd part, we focus on the Seme. And as 3rd part, we practice actual way.
We knows it is very difficult to get the collect way, so that we practice in different way. At our Dojo, each practice is different from last practice. As Ariga sensei has many experience , he always use his own initiative.

BUTOKUDEN Adult Practice 1
This time, we used the Dojo longitudinally. Our Dojo is too small to practice to Oikomi-geiko. Using the Dojo differnt way, we learned the importance of Zanshin. When we hit Men, we need to stretch out, but we can’t practice lots as our Dojo condition. This is one of the solution for this practice. Recently, I felt I need stretch out more. I always stop after hitting, so that this practice is very effective for me.
I am always wondering why I can’t get Ippon. I know it is very a difficult question. There are so many reasons I can’t get. But I found I can’t stretch enough after this practice.Especially while Zi-geiko, I never stretch out…..It is not good!!!
I need stretch out!!!
